Still Life On A Doily My mother passed away in February of 1983 after a long illness; but very suddenly. The original work is a tribute to her. I setup the still life with items she loved and added the geranium into the composition. She loved geraniums and all the items on a quilt she left for me. In the summer of 1983 I entered my first juried competition at the Indiana State Fair professional Division and won the watercolor class beating out Floyd Hopper. The painting went on to win 5 more awards and was exhibited in 4 nation exhibitions. This is the only watercolor that I have kept in my private collection for obvious reasons. Lot # LEP01-2016

Middlebury Family Physicians Size: 8 X 11 in Hilly streets and a town full of Amish and their buggies is a typical day in Middlebury located in Elkhart County in Indiana. This scene struck my interest first because the horse was hitched to the doctors sign and because the horse was in a strain to keep the buggy from rolling and pushing him. But he is taking in stride. Lancaster Amish Buggy Size: 8 X 11 in Lancaster Pennsylvania has some of the most beautiful Amish farms in the country. Unfortunately, it became a tourist trap, and many of the Amish are trying to escape to parts of the country west. One of the unique things about their culture is the use of Standardbred racing horses to pull their buggies. When their done racing, the go to an auction where they are bought by the Amish. Since they are broke to pull harness racing carts, it is a short step to relearn their new job on the farm. Lot # P03-2016
